Richmond, The American International University of London

Richmond University is a private, not for profit American university and it is the only AAICU institution in England. It is accredited both in the United Kingdom (Open University) and in the USA by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. We emphasize the best of both the US and UK systems of education: the US focus on the liberal arts and the British system of specialization. The University has the added attraction of being situated in the beautiful town of Richmond within easy reach of central London. First and second-year students are based at the Richmond Hill campus whilst third and fourth-year and MA students are based at our Kensington campus, at the heart of what is one of the most dynamic and cosmopolitan cities in the world.

Richmond enrols full-time, undergraduates and also offers an MA in Art History & Visual Culture and an MA in International Relations. Over 1,100 students from over 100 countries are enrolled pursuing degrees in 15 academic majors including international business and finance, communications and media studies and international relations. We are developing new undergraduate degrees in development studies, arts management and international law, both on the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We have a special commitment to experiential learning with the provision of internships which enable students to experience areas of work related to their academic subjects and to explore possible graduate career opportunities. Students are both intellectually challenged and enabled to be active global citizens through the development of service learning (learning through volunteering) and via a curriculum which encourages an awareness of globalization, international relations and cultural diversity. There are also opportunities for students to spend a study semester at our centers in Florence or Rome and participate in the internship program in China. We are looking to develop a network of partner universities to provide exchange programs for our students.

At Richmond, students and staff are members of a friendly, supportive and international community. Our students gain valuable and enjoyable learning experiences both within and beyond the classroom. Richmond’s academic themes are global citizenship cultural diversity, international relations and preparation for global leadership.
